Life is unfair. I was reminded of that this morning when I saw a 10-year-old girl seated outside the stem cell transplant unit. Her head was shaved, she was wearing a surgical mask, and she had a look of fear and confusion in her eyes. There is a special place in Hell for those who propose to cut medical research funding to give billionaires yet another tax cut.
It’s truly unbelievable, it will definitely make you want to ask GOD why a person that young and innocent is there instead of someone older like myself. But anyone that knows GOD knows that he always has the reason for the path that we are on in life.

I wholeheartedly agree!!! And everyone who agrees to cut funding needs to come work a day at MDA or somewhere similar.
My husband is Day +20 from his allo stem cell transplant for AML. I have gotten many questions answered from your blog as he is similar in age and situation as you. Thank you for your posts.

I so agree with you. The current selfish ‘me first’ attitude about health care, pre-existing conditions, and medical research is unconscionable. Thank you for sharing this example – one that is multiplied hundreds of thousands of times over in our country right now. All of our representatives need to spend a week in a cancer ward to gain an understanding of just one of the major illnesses affecting the lives of ordinary Americans and to gain an understanding of the worry and the pain and suffering of these families.
